SARA HHA Training Center

2023 Graduation of new HHAs at SARA

Happy Anniversary! SARA’s Training Center has Been Opened for 3 years.

It’s been 3 years since we celebrated the opening of the SARA HHA Training Center to educate a new generation of excellent, certified Home Health Aides to help individuals and families with their home care needs.

Today, we are proud to say that we have graduated 150 students so far, despite a year long hiatus due to the pandemic. And we don’t just provide an education – all successful graduates are offered jobs with SARA!  Best of all, our students appreciate that the program is completely FREE for them to take.

The students really love the program which is taught by our very experienced Register Nurse Instructors.

Here’s some recent reviews participants had for the class:

Insights from Madelyn, one of our RN Instructors

  • The overall objective/mission of SARA’s HHA Training Program is to prepare and develop prospective caregivers to become well-rounded professionals in home care.
  • We create an impact on our students that their healthcare careers can be endless with the proper mindset of goal setting – which means the opportunity for career advancement doesn’t stop by getting certified as a HHA.
  • Department of Health licensed home care services agencies like SARA which have their own DOH approved HHA training program have an advantage in preparing their caregivers based on the agency’s philosophy and standards.
  • It is also a means by which the agency can give back to the community by creating job opportunities to our graduates.
  • One thing I hope a graduate takes away from the program is that being a caregiver in home care is a commitment to kindness, empathy and respect to a fellow human being. And of course, the promotion of Health and Wellness.

In addition to training newcomers to the field of health care, SARA also helps CNAs and PCAS transition to HHAs and helps HHAs with expired or out-of-state certificates get the proper HHA certification.

SARA also provides in-service continuing education classes for our experience HHAs to keep their skills up-to-date and introduce them to new information about home healthcare subjects.

Students are hand-selected by our HR and Clinical teams based on their demeanor, ability, interest, and their potential to master the skills needed to be not only a home health aide, but to meet and exceed SARA’s and the New York State Department of Health’s standards resulting in an exceptional, elite home care experience for our clients.

Upon successful graduation from the program, they receive their official HHA certificate and are offered a position with SARA.

SARA is very happy to give back to the community by providing jobs, improving opportunities across the New York metropolitan area, and helping seniors and special needs children by making sure there is excellent group of home health aides available for now and in the future.

The Sara Companion HHA Training Center continues to grow. In 2022, we introduced additional training, a pediatrics program for special needs children developed by our RN Director of Patient Services, Anne Louisa.
